Sam Matson

Sam was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He attended the University of South Dakota for his undergraduate studies. He majored in political science and criminal justice, graduating magna cum laude in 2019. Sam later attended the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 2022.

Sam served on the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association from 2024-2026. He has served as a registered lobbyist for the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association since 2023.

Sam has been a lawyer at HPS Law Firm in 2022. Sam practices in all areas of litigation in both South Dakota state and federal court. Sam also serves as a registered lobbyist during the South Dakota Legislative Session, representing clients across a diverse range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, petroleum, local government, accounting, hemp, and gaming.
